J Lohr Est Merlot Los Osos (Paso Robles) 21

The J. Lohr Estates Los Osos Merlot is medium-dark in color with a red hue. Varietal aromas of black plum, violet, and ripe fruit meld with light barrel signatures of baking spices, toasted pastry, chocolate, and coconut. A generous fraction of Malbec in the blend accentuates bright fruit tones and contributes notes of pomegranate and hibiscus flower. Named after the Los Osos series soils in Paso Robles, which have proven to be the perfect medium for growing lush, flavorful Merlot. Grown in El Pomar on Nacimiento-Los Osos soils, which are particularly well-draining. This lively and bright wine cascades to a lengthy, red-fruit finish with soft tannins. J. Lohr is dedicated to sustainable winegrowing practices and in 2010 became one of the first vineyards to earn the Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing distinction. Pair this fuller style of Merlot with dishes like Hunan style spare ribs, lamb chops with blackberry gastrique, or chocolate brownies with confit raspberries. It also pairs well with cheeses like Monterey Jack or Dubliner Irish.
