The Jean-Noël Gagnard Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Blanc Sous Éguisons 2023 is a Chardonnay from a small parcel in La Rochepot, located at an altitude of 430-450 meters. The vines are planted in limestone soil with colluvial deposits, benefiting from protection against northern winds by a cliff above the vineyard. The wine is crafted using organic and biodynamic practices, with fermentation in used barrels and aging on the lees for 12-15 months. The wine displays vibrant citrus flavors of grapefruit, lemon, and lime, with a slight creaminess and a mineral finish. Its pure, pristine character is complemented by a matchstick mineral nose and a precise, linear palate with integrated acidity. Subtle hints of oak add complexity, while the wine’s fresh, elegant, and delicate profile makes it enjoyable both young and with some aging potential. The wine is expected to drink well from 2024 to 2030.
