Bodegas Montecillo was first established in 1870 by Don Celestino in Fuenmayor, Rioja out of deep ties to the region knowledge its wines. He became a pioneer of Rioja, sending his son Alejandro to Bordeaux in the following decade to study among the greatest wineries in the world and exploring winemaking techniques previously unknown to the area. Today the estate has invested in its future by embracing its past, and brings authentic Rioja through quality techniques, technology, and generations-long relationships with their growers. The Bodegas Montecillo Rioja Reserva is expressive on the nose showing bright red cherry and raspberry tones. The fruit is accented by spice and oak with a twist of orange peel. The palate is bright and elegant with plump red fruit and warming oak tones that float atop generous, rounded tannins and fresh acidity. Delicious.
