ORW Old Soul Red '21

From a tiny 0.3-hectare parcel, this rising star's wine is translucent ruby with a nose of wild raspberry, rose petal, and crushed chalk. The palate is filigreed and precise, with flavors of red currant, pomegranate, and tannins like blown glass. Burghound (95 pts) notes its "Cros Parantoux-level intensity" from 70% whole clusters and 20% new oak. The 2021 frost-affected vintage (harvested October 1st) yielded 13% alcohol with electric acidity. Decant 30 minutes for squab with cherries or cellar until 2040. 50 cases made.
